Baby A Crawling with dogs video

Baby A has just started to crawl! She loves to crawl over to the dogs and often time I will find her laying down with the dogs. Today our three boys (all brothers) golden retrievers were playing on their backs together and Baby A was very intrigued by this.

Picture from Layla

This is a picture of one of our grown puppies from last year. She was the puppy we nicknamed "big girl" in our previous blog postings. She is taking after her father Huck and is a ball hog!

Sire Huckleberry Finn and Dame Princess Ginger Snapp

This is a picture of Ginger and Huck. Ginger is about a week out from having her pups.
Ginger is known around our house as a chicken chaser. She goes out every morning to check on her chickens, count them and heard them by the fence. She will spend all day if she could monitoring her chickens. She however does not kill them if they accidentally hop over the fence. She will softly catch them and hold them in her mouth very gently. Our chow mix Kodiak on the other hand is never so gentle.

4 days old..

This picture was taken when the puppies were four days old. They are all very healthy and have already doubled in size. Ginger has been a great mama. She went outside and played ball for the first time since her pups were born. She lasted about 15 minutes before she wanted back inside to check on her puppies. So far she has only let Huckleberry into the puppy room to see them. The other dogs have to remain at the door and go no further than that....

Baby A with puppies...

Our little girl is very curious about the squeaky and wiggly bunch coming from the puppy nursery. The puppies are about three days old in this picture. Baby A has recently began to start crawling and pull herself up. She readily puller herself up to take a peek at all the puppies. For the first three to four weeks we keep our puppies in a small kiddy pool lined with a dog blanket. All of our puppies come very well socialized to dogs, chickens, children, adults, the indoors and the outdoors. We start training our puppies from an early age to sit, respect food and potty train to paper.

PUPPIES have ARRIVED!

The puppies arrive on the afternoon of Sunday January 16th, 2011. There are 6 boys and 5 girls with a total of 11 healthy and vibrant puppies. Ginger and all the puppies are in excellent health. Ginger was very hungry after she had her pups and ate four cans of dog food! She is very protective of her puppies and has been taking excellent care of all of them. There does not seem to be an obvious runt at this time. There are two that are very dark red in color and all the rest appear medium to dark red in color. This will continue to change after the puppies get older.

Pregnant Ginger...

This is a picture of Ginger just hours before she had her puppies. She was rather uncomfortable. We all hedged bets on how many puppies she was going to have - Our vet thought 7-8, Nichole thought 9 and Kurt guessed 13.
