New Pictures...

Ball Champ in the making

t

oA very cute curly haired boy. We call him Bucky Junior. Bucky is one of Julies (breeding coach) dogs who is just a calm love bug. He has really curly ears just like this pup. This pup is never to excited about anything... really laid back and just loves to be cuddled.

Tonight we came home to more puppies out of our hay bale enclosure than there were in the enclosure. So, we spent tonight revamping the garage, opening up half of the garage to the puppies and blocking off the other half of the garage with a stack of hay bales (2 high this time). The puppies were trying to help sweep, rake, move things and shuffle under your feet. They shuffled under your feet the best. We are starting to "paper train" them in one area of the garage. Seems to be working really well so far. The puppies are mainly on dry dog food now and water. We still bring out some dry food in soy milk once per day just to make sure all 20 are getting their nutritional needs met.
Kurt and I spend hours with the puppies.. We will often lay down with them. They end up pig piling on us, biting our ankles! and giving us lots of puppy love. They are to the point where they crave human attention.. and boy do we love to give it to them!

This is a picture of Huck. He has a bandage on his foot because we had a mole (nodule is the technical term) removed when he had his OFA hip certification completed. It was something that was bothering him.. he kept chewing at it. He has done well with the sticky ace wrap. He technically isn't suppose to be outside but it was such a nice sun shiny day we couldn't keep him cooped up. We have the stitches removed in 10-14 days.
This is such a nice picture of Sunny. And YES she is still nursing her pups. We just can't stop her! All the puppies were out in the yard for about 4 hours today. They were digging, eating rocks, eating dirt and just loving life. They eventually found the most fluffy patch of grass we have and pig piled to sleep.
This is a typical picture of Huck with the puppies. He just loves and adores them so much! He falls asleep in the strangest positions with puppies sprawled all over him.

SUNNY SUN SUNNY SUN!

Oh, my goodness.. the puppies have been in hog heaven playing outside in the sunshine this week!! They run and tumble and pounce and dig and EAT ROCKS! and eat dirt and play, play play. When washing the car yesterday they stood in a line under the front bumper trying to drink the water drops falling off the car. It was adorable. We definitely have some water dogs in the making!

Gingers pups are now 5 weeks old and Sunny's pups are 6 weeks old. We gave Sunny's pups their first round of shots this week. They are getting SOOO big! We started to advertise in the local paper this weekend. We are to that phase in this process of now needing to start to find them all good homes. The part I think I am dreading the most... I will miss all of them but know they will bring so much joy to families in this area.

Picture to come soon .....

I hate sad news....

Our baby runt girl lost the fight. We gave her the name Polly. We are trying not to dwell on this sad event. We believe all dogs go to heaven and we miss her SO much. Kurt and I are such animal lovers and we truly put our hearts and souls into this little girl. We are focusing our energy on a new day, each other and the other 20 puppies and 6 dogs that need our love and affection.

Update on Runt Pup "Baby Girl"

Taking steps forward every day! :-)
Our "baby girl" has come a long way. She is now eating well and growing every day. She still has some raspy breathing and signs of an upper respitory infection.. but all in all, she has made some hearty gains. Her personality is really starting to shine through. She spends most of her time indoors. We no longer take her out to the big group in the garage any longer... she was just to small and would get to tired from running from the bigger dogs. We bring in a few of her smaller puppy friends to play with during the day and she enjoys that. She likes to play with the Old dogs however, Max and Huck are her favorites. She sleeps in her crate in Kurt's office during the day and we move the crate to our bedroom at night. We keep the door to the crate open and she comes and goes as she pleases. She quite enjoys free reign of the house. We are still regulating her food intake, giving her subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, fiber supplements and anti-vomiting medication. We plan on weaning these medications off in a week or two. We are hoping she will kick the pneumonia, gain some really good strength and gain more weight/grow before we wean off what has been so successful! We are definitely not out of the woods yet, but as Kurt keeps telling me... She WILL make it...She is a fighter.. STOP WORRYING! Boy is that easier said that done.

Mama Ginger and Papa Huck

Huck peeking in on his kids. He sure loves all the puppies!
What a nice picture of Huck and Ginger. Ginger weighs approximately 65 pounds and Huck weighs 85 pounds. They make such a nice pair together. Huck goes in this next week for his OFA certification. Basically, this is a series of hip and joint x-rays in order to rule out any "risk" of hip dysplegia. A dog has to be 2 years old in order to have this certification done. Ginger will go through this over the summer when she turns 2 in August. Huck is 3 1/2 years old. We have been meaning to do this certification for a long time but you know how life can be.

First Adventure OUTSIDE!

Soccer game anyone?

Huck with his kids...
A yard full of puppies... WOW!
Kodiak with the pups..

Sunny nursing the little piggies. Technically she should be weaning them by now.... That must hurt! They have sharp little teeth. The Vet recommended getting an old t-shirt and putting it over her so she won't nurse. We haven't tried that yet.. not sure how Sunny would like that.
